We are searching for a talented Venues Chef to lead the food service operation at mainly Whitechapel, with occasional requirements at Barbican and Mile End

**Job Purpose:**
Working as their Venues Chef, you will play a pivotal role in crafting exceptional dining experiences for our diverse student body. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the seamless execution of food service operations, maintaining cleanliness standards, and inspiring and mentoring a team of student kitchen staff.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities:**

– Lead food procurement, delivery, and procedural management across multiple outlets.
– Create, present, and serve high-quality food at licensed bar venues and hospitality events.
– Collaborate with the Venues & Events manager to develop innovative menu offerings based on trends and sales data.
– Plan and monitor stock based on agreed menus and footfall projections.
– Maintain accurate records related to procurement, maintenance, and equipment.
– Train, supervise, and motivate student kitchen staff, ensuring tasks are executed to high standards.
– Enhance food production efficiencies through forecasting and operational insights.
– Ensure kitchen areas are clean, safe, and compliant with health & safety regulations.
– Lead compliance efforts, including HACCP and food hygiene standards.
– Conduct quarterly reviews of food service operations and recommend improvements.
– Drive food concepts and business development for various outlets.

**Person Specification:**
– Essential:
– NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Kitchen Supervision or Food Preparation.
– Level 3 Food hygiene certificate or equivalent.
– Significant experience managing in a restaurant, gastro pub, or hospitality kitchen.
– Experience in menu development and costing.
– Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and supervise others.
– Knowledge of health & safety regulations in kitchen environments.

– Desirable:
– First Aid at Work Qualification.
– Experience with customer feedback analysis and sales data utilization.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
– Awareness of catering industry trends.
– Commercial mindset with customer-focused orientation.

**Attitude and Disposition for the Ideal Venues Chef:**
– Willingness to attend training, courses, meetings, and conferences.
– Enthusiastic about enhancing the student experience.
– Flexibility to adapt to the events calendar, and occasionally working extended shifts, nights, and weekends.
